fun with kids

One of the new Ed trainees, Fred, came to spend the weekend with me as part of his pre-service training. We ate lots of yummy vegetarian food and visited the schools, but mostly we played with the kids. Here my neighbors taught him how to make recycled paper.
The next day we taught the kids how to bowl, with empty 2-liter bottles and an orange.
And then we mixed liquid dish detergent in a bucket and tied string into circles so they could blow bubbles.

And after a bit of practice they got pretty good!

And then realized that bubbles can have so many uses. Fred and I sat in our chairs on the porch and just watched the show.
But in the end, all the fancy activities can't beat the simplicity of a wheel with a stick and plenty of space to ride your "moto"!
