Feliz Cumpleanos Tacuati

Today – September 23 -- Tacuati celebrates its 207th birthday. Actually, all week we’ve been celebrating, and it’s not over yet. There have been special masses at church every night, after which was a football (soccer) tournament between neighborhoods. Several hours of the school day have been spent practicing marching for today’s parade. Houses have been painted, fences mended and new school uniforms purchased. Thursday night was bingo, last night movie night. This morning we had the student parade and a cultural expo, this afternoon a horserace, tonight some sort of presentation with poetry and dances and musical groups. Tomorrow morning after yet another mass will be a processional, followed by a huge asado (cookout with tasty grilled meat), and a torrino at night, which may be a bullfight. Que fiesta!! Feliz cumpleanos, querida Tacuati!
