some of my friends

From top to bottom:
1. Clara and Jorge. She's 30 and unmarried (shocker!), tho they'll probably get married soon. She owns a clothing store in town and is about to open the first cell phone store in Tacuati.
2. Betty and Noemi, my official "contacts." They're sisters (two of eight!) and work at the Supervision, kind of the superintendency in charge of all the schools in the area.
3. Na Luisa and Don Felipe and their daughter, son in law, grandson. They have been the host family for the business volunteers in Tacuati for three generations. She's a founding member of the Coop and a women's group, and active in the church and neighborhood association too. She helps me practice Guarani, and is quite motherly - she made my promise when I moved into my new house that I would never, ever open the door to a man after dark.
4. Angelica and Romy, two teachers (also sisters) and their kids. They were good friends of Ryan, the former volunteer, and are very sweet and welcoming. Angelica is the principal of one of the smaller schools and is one of the teachers who has invited me to do model lessons.
