bad weather blues

So today´s the last day of school (!!) and we´re all ready to head to the beach, but it seems that 1) it´s still the rainy season there for a few more weeks so it´s usually not the best weather, and 2) that darn Hurricane Beta is still affecting weather everywhere. It´s been freezing cold here - seriously, wool socks and blankets and sweaters - and cloudy and windy, and we´re far away from where the storm is. So we´re worried that our plans to relax on the beach in the Bay Islands, where the storm actually is, will not happen, at least not this week.

For now the plan is to head back to Tela, the pretty beach town we went to a few weeks ago. There´s a national park there, Punta Sol, that has good hiking and kayaking and such, and a biological reserve too with lots of animal life, and there are also cool Garifuna villages nearby (that´s the black Caribbean culture, totally different from the rest of Honduras) so Kelly and I are planning to do all that for a few days and see what happens with the weather. Other optionsthen include going to Belize or Nicaragua for a week before returning to Ocotepeque on the 15th for graduation before taking off again for Guatemala. It´s fun to have so many options, but overwhelming too!
